ABOUT ME... | Guisel's Crib

Me, Myself, and I

What's up Madlang Pipz. It me again Guisel, your story teller of the day.

Would you like to know the history of my name? "GUI" is from my mother's mother's name Guia, and "SEL" is from my father's mother's name Selveria

 My Family

This is our little family. I only have 1 sibling. She is 4 years older than me, and her name is Merla Jean. My mother's name is Perla and my father's name is Merlito. We usually call them Nanay Deding, Mudrakels, Deding Perla, and Tatay Otoy or sometimes I call him Tots. Both of them are already in their senior citizens. However, my mother is an active teacher at Igpalge Elementary School, my alma mater.

I want to tell you a secret. Me and my sister are still single but with partners since we chose to be it and we're happy about it. Never mind what other people are saying.

Who Is Guisel Magtulis Martinez?

My newly acquainted people usually call me Guisel but my friends and relatives call me Kageh, but for me, I prefer Ghie (to make it more classy). However, when my sister gets angry with me she calls me Tagar. On the other hand, my partner's family called me Tacoi/Mama Coi. See? From my name alone, I can say "It's complicated". 😁
Guisel is already 31 years of age. I can describe her as an adventurous lady. She loves to travel from here, there, and everywhere. That's why, I can say that she still has no concrete plans for her life.
Guisel is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management (B.S.H.R.M) at the University of Antique - Tario Lim Memorial Campus. She attended her first university school at Central Philippine University and managed to join the Golden Lions Varsity Team (Softball Tertiary).

The History

Tatay Otoy is a former seafarer, and Nanay Deding is a teacher. One year after I was born, Nanay Deding got a permanent position in the Department of Education, Culture, and Sports (DECS), currently known as the Department of Education (DepEd). Since she was assigned to a far-flung barangay school, my Tatay Otoy decided to quit his job and take care of me. Since I was always with Tatay Otoy, they baptized me as his junior.

My Tatay Otoy became literally what they call a househusband. His daily routine was to cook our food and drive us around (going to schools, meetings, and even during emergencies). And there, I started to idolize him. It was the first time I dreamed of having a partner like him.

Way of Life

Even though my Nanay Deding is a teacher, we used to live a simple life. During my elementary and secondary days, I can recall that we didn't even have a television (TV), refrigerator, or some other appliances. We used to go to our neighbor's house to watch movies, teleseryes, and the news. We only got our first motorcycle when my sister became valedictorian in elementary school, as it was my Nanay's promise to her. So, my sister and I were trained to live with contentment.

Thanks for reading my blog.
